Mom's Day Old Cake

Cream:
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
3-4 T. unsweetened cocoa

Add, beat:
2 eggs

Add, mix well:
1 t. vanilla
1/2 c. buttermilk

Sift in, blend well:
1 t. soda
2 c. flour
1/2 t. salt

Add:
1 c. boiling coffee

Bake at 350 for 45 minutes.  9" x 12" pan

In a saucepan, melt:
2 T. butter
1 c. brown sugar
8 T. evaporated milk
1 c. pecans or walnuts
Pour over cake, place in broiler until it boils.

As the name implies.....this cake is best a day old!
